About the Course
Already a certified PADI Advanced Mermaid and ready to share the magic? This one-day upgrade course equips you to teach Discover Mermaid and Basic Mermaid programs—an ideal stepping stone toward becoming a full PADI Mermaid Instructor.
What to Bring
Mermaid Monofin and Skin
Sun-protective clothing and a change of clothing
Reef Safe Sunscreen
Low-volume mask and J-style freediving snorkel
Nose clip or sinus-saver nose plugs (optional)
Bifins appropriate for freediving
A secure swimsuit
Towels
Water and snacks
Course materials as needed to conduct presentations: Laptop, iPad, mobile device
Notebook
If you bring your own mermaid tail it must be from one of the following brands:
Mermaid Linden, Suntails, Mertailor Whimsy, Fin Fun, or Cape Cali.
Mermaid Linden is highly recommended for beginners.
You may rent one from the store if you do not own a tail.

REQUIREMENTS
18 years old
Certified as a PADI Basic Mermaid Instructor
Completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care training (or have a qualifying certification) within the last 24 months. Holding a current EFR Instructor rating (or qualifying certification) meets this requirement.
Current medical statement signed by a physician within the previous 12 months
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
This course is made up of 2 components, you need both to complete the certification.
Your e-Learning is your self-study material from PADI and the training course is with our instructors at Pocna Dive Center. Contact us if you have any questions.
Aside from what you already have planned, there are plenty of other exciting activities to explore on Isla Mujeres.

High-Quality Equipment & Facilities
Scuba diving equipment allows you to visit the underwater world by making it possible to breathe, see, and move comfortably while below the surface. It is important that all our equipment including our compressors are fully maintained and regularly checked for both your comfort and your safety. We want to make sure that you are fully comfortable and confident with our equipment. To help, we offer opportunities to practice in our on-site pool, or we provide refresher classes for experienced divers who haven't been in the ocean for a while.
Environmental Responsibility
At our center, we take this responsibility seriously. We are proud members of Green Finns and PADI Aware ambassadors. In addition, we collaborate with the Saving Our Sharks Foundation and run our own Ambassadors Del Mar initiative. This initiative is focused on providing children and fishermen on the island with the opportunity to learn about conservation and diving.
