The Gunboat C-58 sank on May 28, 2000, at a depth of 26 meters (85 feet) and was split into two sections by Hurricane Wilma in 2005.
The vessel's stern, or back half, features a descent line leading to the main wreck, making it suitable for certified penetration dives. It is open and home to large schools of fish, with several rooms to explore, including a bathroom.
The stern has large openings for easy entry and exit, while restricted passages provide exploration and reel practice opportunities, making it ideal for wreck specialty training.
The bow, located about 100 meters (300 feet) down current, rests on its left side and is less frequently visited, making it a pleasant drift dive. This area is worth exploring, especially for sightings of Spotted Eagle Rays that annually return to this area.
This dive is considered advanced and should be treated as such. The strong currents and depth mean divers must have prior experience before this dive. A very strict screening process is in place to ensure the safety of both the diver and the guide.
