SHARK OBSERVATION

Join the Masters of the Sea at Jamie's Reef on a shark feeding observation adventure

Pocna Dive Center’s commitment to conservation activity and our collaboration with Saving Our Sharks Foundation made it possible to create this special dive trip in which you’ll actively participate and support building up a dive site for shark observation. You’ll meet the Masters of the Sea, former shark fishermen who decided to make a change using their shark and sea knowledge to protect sharks instead of fishing them, and the biologist in charge of the project who’ll explain to you in detail what our effort and your help are aiming to: create a dive site for shark observation following a feeding protocol.

You’ll dive Jaime’s reef, named after Dr. Jaime Gonzales Cano, who was a pioneer in shark conservation in Quintana Roo, and observe the feeding process, which is attracting more and more fish every day. You’ll also have the chance of big encounters such as a nurse or hammerhead sharks, which have already been recorded in the area. The dive is quite easy and suited for all certification levels from Open Water on, as it has a depth of 18mt/60ft and usually no difficult conditions.

After this special dive, you’ll do another one in one of our drift dive spots, such as La Bandera or Punta Negra, where you can enjoy some of the most beautiful reefs of Cancun and Isla Mujeres’ area and observe a wide range of sea life.

All of this is always accompanied by Pocna’s Dive Center’s professional guides to ensure the level of service you expect.

A portion of your payment will be donated to Saving Our Sharks Foundation to help the project continue.

Help us protect the sharks and be the change you want to see!
