About The Project

Jovenes Del Mar - Los Ambjadores is a project designed to tackle conservation issues in and around Isla Mujeres, while offering young locals the opportunity to gain new skills and career opportunities. These young locals will gain world-recognized PADI certifications while learning about their local marine life and habitats, it is through this education that we hope to show how we can create a more sustainable future for the prominent industries working on the island for the benefit of the people who live here.

Each child we certify will be a part of our dive community and become an ocean ambassador for Isla Mujeres. They will have the opportunity to help teach the next ambassadors.

Success

We want future generations on the island to benefit from a healthier ocean, more marine life and have broader career options within their community and around the world.

Isla Mujeres Conservation

Oceans are an essential component of the earth's ecosystem and it is in underprivileged areas, where we see the most damage. Education from a young age is fundamental to creating change in society which is proven to have the highest impact on environmental projects. With Jovenes Del Mar - Los Ambajadores we will be creating a pro-active group of young locals that will be participating in local conservation projects and creating their own which will ensure Isla Mujeres has a strong and healthy ocean with home for its marine life for many years to come.

Why Is Conservation Important on Isla Mujeres

Isla Mujeres is traditionally a fisherman's island and now  tourism has also become a big part of the local economy, both industries can cause lasting damage to marine life which means if we don't take action now the Island will lose these major income industries in the near future

Community Support

We would not be able to run this project without the support of our local community and the generosity of local businesses. We will be working alongside Lean On Me International to support local families throughout the project and to ensure all the community benefits from the project.

If you would like to get involved and support the project in any way please send us and email and let's work together.
