Have you always wondered what it’s like to breathe underwater? If you want to try scuba diving, but aren’t quite ready to take the plunge into a certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is for you. POCNA DIVE CENTER offers this course for you. While not a scuba certification course, Discover Scuba Diving is a quick and easy introduction to what it takes to explore the underwater world.

To sign up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience, you must be at least 10 years old. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health.

The course will take a half day and with our dive center, you get 2 dives. Your first dive will be at the famous underwater museum of Art MUSA and the second dive at Isla Mujeres’s beautiful coral reef, Manchones. Both dives are at a nice comfortable 10meters/33feet in crystal blue Caribbean water.

On these dives it is not uncommon to see turtles, rays, eels and many other of the huge variety of marine life this tiny tropical island has to offer.

So, if your time is limited and you want to try diving, this is the perfect introduction for you. Contact us now for further information.

You won't regret it, memories like these last a lifetime.

Q: I might have a medical issue

A: We have included a link below for you to check to see if there are any yes responses on your medical form. If there is a yes, or if you have any doubts, then you have time to see your family doctor who is familiar with your medical history before arriving to the island.

Important: please fill out and bring the medical form  English Form | Spanish Form

If you have to answer any of the questions with a YES, a doctor will have to evaluate and approve you for diving. In that case please let the doctor fill out the second page. If all answers are a NO you are good to go!

Q: Can I start on any day?

A: You may start on any day as soon as all appropriate paperwork and medical has been completed and if the weather permits

Q: There are exams?

A: There is a small quiz for you to complete to make sure that you understand the information given. This is not an exam and the instructor is there to assure that you understand all the questions as these are important for your comfort and safety.

Q: What happens if the weather is bad?

A: if the weather is bad and the port closes then a full refund will be given if no skills have been completed. If you have already completed part of the DSD with an instructor then refunds will be given in accordance to the amount of work completed.

Q: I am very nervous about this. I have no experience.

A: You have already taken the first step and that is even considering doing this. Well done. Now you just need to get in there and do it. We will work closely with you all the way. We all must start somewhere so why not where the water is warm and visibility unsurpassed. Our instructors have lots of experience and will be there to hold your hand (literally if needed) every step of the way. Being nervous is natural when you are entering something that you cannot even imagine. Don’t worry, it is normal to be nervous. Just know that once you are beneath the waves on your first dive it will all be worth it. It is like meditation and incredibly beautiful.

Q: I have done a DSD before. Does this count toward my PADI Open Water Course?

A: Unfortunately not unless you arranged with your DSD instructor to do the appropriate skills on your first dive (The skills you already completed in shallow water do not count, you need to repeat these out in the open water) and have the appropriate paperwork. You will be doing 4 dives on your open water course regardless of having completed a DSD as each tour with us is for 2 tanks. You will, however, have the huge advantage of knowing what is coming and you will find you are a lot more comfortable with the skills in the water than someone who has never dived before.

Q: Do I get a discount if I have done a DSD and then do my Open Water course?

A: If you do your DSD with us and then decide to continue toward your Open Water course you may discuss with us any discounts that will apply. If you did not do a DSD with us, then no discounts apply but you will find that you are much more adept and comfortable than someone that has never dived before.
